Graditude

02/20/2012
I am grateful for my calling as a Stake Relief Society Secretary. This calling has allowed me the opportunity to participate in meetings where the Spirit is tangible. What a tremendious blessing.

I am grateful for my job. Sometimes its hard to really appreciate it. I would love to be paid more. But at the end of the day I can pay my bills and purchase the things I need.

I noticed this family at church yesterday. As I watched their little baby smile at the girl behind them I wondered to myself if they realized the amount of trust Heavenly Father has put in them as parents He has entrusted one of his children to them. Something that not everyone in this life will experience.

1. The girl from Finance that helped me pull my pants out of my scooter wheel.

2. Chili's chips and queso...so salty and delicious!

3. For Angelina, her willingness to cut the skin off my bloodied hands...despite internally freaking out!

4. Melissa & Joey the new series on ABC Family, too funny!

5.The ability to see the humor in the crazy things that happen in my life.

6. Getting clicker questions correct! Makes me feel like I am retaining some of the masses of information that is being shoved in!

7. Gum...I really do enjoy gum, despite dentists warnings about jaw damage...I guess if you hear a clickity-clack...its probably my jaw.

1. My mom visiting last week. I really enjoyed our time together.

2. My new calling,Stake RS Secretary, the Priesthood, the opportunity to hear from my Heavenly Father. Each time I receive a blessing I am remind of how much my Heavenly Father loves me and is aware of me.

3. Storms. I do love watching storms, the sounds of thunder, the flash of lightening, the smell of rain, the thickness in the air. The calm and freshness that is left behind.

4.Jared's grilled cheese! Mmmm!

5. Vacuums that really suck! Bahhaa! But no really, I heart a vacuum that can easily pick up dog hair.

6. Creating...I love to make things, cards, sewing projects, it's just nice to start with something plain and end up with something I love!

7. Friends, near and far.

8. Babies...I love them! They are so small, sweet, and a little fuzzy!

9. Funny kids, most recently Isaac and Sam...those kids are too funny!

10. Running! I really do love to run, it's the starting that's tricky...but there is nothing like it! I crave the runner's high. I often wish I had a treadmill in my cube...I'd be so much happier! Bring on the spreadsheets!!!

So I have been feeling a little frustrated with life...you know work...ground hog day...blah...I needed a way out, a change of directions... a different focus.

While blog surfing I was thinking how I really missed reading blogs. I have been so busy with school, work, friends, family, and church, I have not had the time. Anywho, while catching up, I visited a friend's blog and noticed that she has been posting things she is grateful for, love it! My new goal is to do this, list at least 5 things I am grateful for, each day.

06/03/10

1. M & M’s…. where would I be without you…your hard outer candy shell mixed with your chocolaty goodness…you make the 3:00 PM low bearable.

2. My morning quiet time. A couple of weeks ago I decided my life was full of noise, work, school, radio, people, etc., I needed some time, some down time. Time to reflect, to hear, without interruption…so I decided that my morning drive (though only 15 minutes) would be “my" time.I’ve made it a point to turn off the radio…and just listen, be, and reflect.

3. Hand sanitizer. I have the stuff everywhere…purse, school bag, desk, car…I use it all the time. Some may think I have a problem…in my defense…ASU posts little reminders like this… “One in three people do not wash their hands correctly”…sick! Do not worry there is still plenty of bacteria out there…my normal flora is not being destroyed.

4. Cheryl’s blog. Girl you are SO funny! Miss ya! Where do you think I came up with this idea? Saw it on Cheryl's blog, loved it so much…I stole it!

5. iPhone. Today my iPhone saved me in class. You are amazing iPhone…you deserve a name…I’ll have to think on that one. You allowed me to use the internet, log into MyASU, Blackboard, and download the extra presentation I was missing. Shew! Crisis avoided!

1. My Dad. Today is his b-day. He’s funny, supportive, kind and loving person. Not to mention a super hard worker. My mom says I am just like him…even have his cheek bones!? Well mom, I am proud to be “just like my Dad”. I am grateful he is my Dad. (p.s. Mom you’re great too!)

2. My scooter. She zooms me to class and back. Muh! I do not even care if I look ridiculous…I heart you.

3. My new office chair. I’ve been waiting for you for months. We are going to spend a lot of time together, please be good to me.

4. My new half cubical wall. All of you who have ever lived 8-9 hours a day in an open cubical understand my elation! Wahoo! I love my pseudo office. Now, if I can just get some of those hippy beads for my door…hmmm…

5. For Emily Martin’s (soon to be Emily Lunt, teehee!) email, which reminded me it IS Friday and I ONLY have 2 hours left! Ahhh...bliss!

Back log...

06/06/10

1. Today is my Mom’s b-day! I know it was just my Dad’s…raised by two Gemini’s…probably explains a lot about me, My mom is great mom, she’s not only a mom to me and my brothers but tohmmm. many others who have a need…I like to say some people collect dolls, my mom, she collects people. She can’t help it, she’s just lovable. Thanks for being my mom!

2. Mmmm for the Mac’n’cheese Kelli brought home from work. So delicious! No better way to break a fast than bowl of cheesy, calorie laden noodles…my mouth is watering right now!

3. Shauna and Kelli, who both simultaneously shared their hilarious commentary in RS…I cannot sit in the middle EVER again! Red faced and not breathing is definitely not a good thing when I’m supposed to be listening. You girls are hilarious…it was worth it!

4. For inspiration of the Spirit and answers to prayers. I know God does hear and answer prayers. He knows me individually and is aware of my needs and is wiling to bless me.

5. Good books. Right now I am almost finished with a book by Robert L. Millet, Talking with God: Divine Conversations that Transform Daily Life. I love the small insights it has provided.

06/05/10

1. Kelli for picking Molly and I up during our Saturday morning run. Molly decided with 2 minutes left that she was not going ANY further. Did a dead man drop in the middle of path and would NOT move. I was finally able to entice her to the shade while we waited for Kelli. Crazy mutt! Apparently 100+ is too much for her.

2. My mid-morning nap. Ahh…I totally needed you.

3. Artic Zero ice cream which allows me to be a fat girl without the guilt. Yum! Though, you are no comparison to Yogurtland.

4. Fresh and Easy. Well, because it’s just so Fresh and Easy. Where else can I find pomegranate seeds ready for me to eat? Pomegranates always remind me of time we spent at my Grandma Lamb’s. She had a huge tree, we would eat them outside on the porch while wearing dishcloths around our necks. Fun times!

5. My new beach cruiser. You were quite enjoyable and a welcomed break from a day of studying. Thanks Kel for the 11:00 PM bike ride and Circle

06/07/10

1. Prayers offered on my behalf. Thanks! I was able to take my first exam and give my first speech…eek with success! I KNOW I was not doing it alone.

2. My co-workers Emily M., Emily G-E, Eunice, and Angela who allowed me to practice my speech on them. Thanks guys! You are great!

3. Awesome quotes…this one I came across a while ago, in rereading it I remembered how much I loved it!

Larry Hiller, Ensign Jun 2009, Hope: The Misunderstood Sister.

"I see Hope more clearly now. She is serene. Her eyes have the deep, knowing look of someone well acquainted with sorrow, the luminosity of recently being wet with tears. Hope has the confidence of one who clearly sees a bright future even when the next hours seem fog shrouded. Hope is steady and strong, a friend I am glad to have beside me during my own trials."

4. Funny friends. Life is so much more enjoyable when I have someone to laugh with!

5. Mother’s Iced Oatmeal cookies (just one)… sweet sugary bliss after a loooong day.

06/08/10

1. Temples. The calming spirit, the closeness to the Lord felt there, and the peaceful reassurances.

2. Researchers, willing study participants, Wikipedia, Quackwatch.com...so much available information.

3. My food-a-pedia...so fun.Try it http://www.myfoodapedia.gov/

4. Quotes...“Spirituality is the consciousness of victory over self, and of communion with the Infinite.”

5. Self-canned chicken with Classico and a wedge of garlic and herb Laughing Cow nooked...mmm...good...easy...and quick!
